I am an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in the “Analysis and Processing of Biomedical Data” at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Ioannina, where I also serve as HCILab Director and Dean of the School of Informatics and Telecommunications. In parallel, I am an Honorary Research Fellow at the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London.

Over the years, I have contributed to numerous European and national R&D programs in roles such as software engineer, researcher, technical manager, seminar instructor, and post‑doctoral researcher. My academic work includes more than 220 peer‑reviewed publications, seven book chapters, two edited books, and two patents related to wearable devices and neurodegenerative diseases.

With over 5,960 citations, I have reviewed extensively for scientific journals and conferences and currently serve on the Editorial Boards of Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research and Inventions.

My research interests include EEG, wearable devices, biomedical signal and image processing, biomedical engineering, decision support and medical expert systems, and biomedical applications. My work on remote monitoring of Parkinson’s disease patients using wearable technologies—particularly the automated assessment of motor symptoms—earned two awards at the MIT Health and Wellness Innovation 2013 competition. I have also been honored by the Greek Ministry of Culture, Education & Religious Affairs for Academic and Research Excellence in Higher Education.
